Our dream started with her's, Evangelist Wylene King-Terrell. To us, Mother Terrell was our original "Goulash Queen"! Although she was not wealthy, she carried herself with the type of class that is priceless. She was a single mother to seven children whose bellies had to be filled. As a member of the "Working Poor", feeding them required ingenuity. Her creative dishes is what we called Goulash.
"Goulash is a rich, slow-cooked meal of meat and vegetables seasoned generously with paprika. Depending on the region, it ranges from a hearty Hungarian soup to a thick North American stovetop casserole."
To us, Goulash consists of a meal made from the variety (or lack thereof) of foods that we have on hand. It could be as simple as beans and hotdogs, or as complex as a seafood gumbo. Oftentimes, it is made using a limited amount of time, space and resources. On other occasions, it is the main course of an elaborate meal. Regardless of the dish we make, when asked for its name, Goulash is always the response.
Goulash is also more than a smorgasbord of dishes, it is a way of life. It is heartfelt conversations, hearty laughs, creative immersion, and love oozing from every pore of our being. It is knowing that God gifted us all with a measure of talent (Matthew 25:14-30), and our gift back to Him is how we use it.
Goulash Sister's is the creative collaboration of Mother Terrell's third born child, Rhonda Payne and her daughter, Shirley Lee. Both of them share a love of God and were gifted with a mixture of talents and interests. There goal is to combine it all and pour it out on the communities we serve.
Our ultimate desire is to have a storefront where we serve up our brand of Goulash as well as a little book nook where we sale our products. We welcome you to our humble beginning!
